🛠️ How to Set Up the “Stop Drive” Shortcut on iPhone

Want to end your trips in MileIQ automatically or with just a tap? Follow this guide to set up the “Stop Drive” shortcut on your iPhone using Apple's Shortcuts app.


Add the Shortcut

Add Manually in Shortcuts App

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.

  2. Go to the All Shortcuts section.

  3. Tap the + in the upper-right corner to create a new shortcut.

  4. Tap Add Action.

  5. In the search bar, type Stop Drive and select the action.

  6. Tap Next, name the shortcut (e.g., Stop Drive), and tap Done.

  7. You’ll now see the shortcut listed in All Shortcuts.


Set Up Automations

Make your shortcut run automatically based on events like arriving home or disconnecting from Bluetooth/CarPlay.

Automation Example: Arriving Home

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.

  2. Go to the Automation tab and tap Create Personal Automation.

  3. Select Arrive.

  4. Tap Choose to pick your home (or any location).

  5. Adjust the location radius to fine-tune where the trigger activates.

  6. Set Time Range to "Any Time" or a specific timeframe.

  7. Tap Next, then Add Action.

  8. Search and select Stop Drive.

  9. On the summary screen:

    • Toggle Ask Before Running off (optional) for automatic activation.

  10. Tap Done to save.

Now, whenever you arrive at that location, MileIQ will finish your trip automatically!

Other Automation Ideas:

  • Bluetooth/CarPlay Disconnection: End your trip when disconnecting from your car.

  • Set up similar steps using the Bluetooth or CarPlay options under automation triggers.


Add Shortcut for Quick Access

📲 Add to Home Screen

  1. In the Shortcuts app, tap the ... icon on your shortcut.

  2. Tap the Title of the shortcut at the top to access the drop-down.

  3. Scroll and select Add to Home Screen.

  4. Customize the icon/name if desired, then tap Add.

🔘 Assign to the Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro and later)

  1. Go to Settings > Action Button.

  2. Under Action Type, select Shortcut.

  3. Choose your Stop Drive shortcut.

This allows you to end your trip with a single button press—perfect for drivers on the go.


Triggering the Shortcut

You can run the “Stop Drive” shortcut in several ways:

🎙️ Siri / Voice

  • Hold the side (power) button.

  • Say the exact phrase you named your shortcut (e.g., “Stop Drive”).

⚙️ Automation

  • Based on the automation you've set (e.g., arriving home, Bluetooth disconnection), it will run automatically.

📲 Home Screen

  • Simply tap the shortcut icon you added to the Home Screen.

🔘 Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro and later)

  • Press the Action Button if you've assigned the shortcut to it.
