How to turn on Location Services (Android)

đź“Ť Android Location Settings for Accurate Drive Detection

For MileIQ to automatically and accurately detect your drives, Location Services must be enabled and set to High Accuracy on Android devices.

🔧 How to Enable Location Services on Android

  1. Open your device’s Settings.

  2. Go to Location.

  3. Toggle Location to On.

  4. Tap Mode or Location Method and select High Accuracy.

✅ High Accuracy uses GPS, Wi‑Fi, and mobile networks for best results.

⚠️ In-App Location Warnings

If you’ve turned on Location Services but still see a warning in the app:

  • Open the app and tap Fix it when prompted.

  • You’ll be taken directly to your device’s Location Settings.

  • From there, ensure High Accuracy is selected under Mode or Location Method.

❌ Location Settings to Avoid

Avoid using these modes—they will prevent MileIQ from detecting drives:

  • Battery Saving

  • GPS Only

  • Device Only

đź“Ś If you want to temporarily stop tracking drives, use the Pause Drive Detection feature inside the MileIQ app instead of turning off location services.

🤔 Why Does MileIQ Need Full Access?

Even if you only want to track business drives, MileIQ must detect all drives first. Drives are classified as Business or Personal afterward—there’s no way to identify a business drive before it's recorded.

This ensures:

  • No drives are missed

  • Your logs stay complete

  • You’re compliant with mileage policies and audits
