MileIQ makes it easier than ever to automatically classify your drives with our Frequent Drives feature. Simply classify your drives and MileIQ will automatically detect those that happen most frequently and offer to auto-classify them for you. You’ll be notified within the app when drives get auto-classified, where you can then edit and view specific drive details from the web dashboard.
Setting up Frequent Drives:
After a drive has been classified the same way 2 times, a hint will appear at the bottom of the drive card, with a reminder of the classification and its potential to be a Frequent Drive.
By classifying the drive the same way a 3rd time, another prompt will appear, asking if you’d like to auto-classify this route in the future.
If any similar drives are available for classification, keep the “Include # unclassified drives” box checked to auto-classify any within that group. (Note that if this box is left unchecked, past drives will need to be manually classified and the Frequent Drive auto-classification will not be applied retroactively.)
Click on “Yes Auto-Classify” to setup your Frequent Drive. A confirmation will appear at the bottom of the screen letting you know it was successful
Note: By selecting “Not Now”, the Frequent Drive prompt will not reappear until 3 more similar drives have been recorded (If you’d rather not see these prompts again, see below for information on how to disable the feature entirely).
Editing Frequent Drives:
Changes or edits to Frequent Drives can be made by visiting the web dashboard at https://dashboard.mileiq.com.
Drives that have been auto-classified using the Frequent Drives feature will have the symbol next to them in the drive list.
Click on any of the auto-classified drives to make changes to the individual drive in the right column.
To make changes to a group of Auto-classified routes, click on "Filters" at the top, then "Frequent Drives (Auto-Classified)
To stop auto-classification of a specific route, click on “Edit” above the drive details panel on the right. Then click “Stop Auto-Classify” to prevent this route from being automatically classified in the future.
Disabling Frequent Drives:
To turn off auto-classifying based on Frequent Drives completely, you can do so from within the MileIQ app or web dashboard.
From the MileIQ app, navigate through the Menu ☰ > Account Settings > Frequent Drives > Tap on the slider to change "Frequent Drives" to Disabled.
From the web dashboard, navigate to Settings > Auto-classification > and click the toggle for “Frequent Drives” to "No".
Notes & Tips:
Name your Locations to make classifying your Frequent Drives even easier. In the screenshots above, both 'Home' and 'Work' were used to label locations making recognizing frequent drives even easier!
Bulk edit can help you quickly modify a batch of auto-classified routes.
What makes a drive a “Frequent Drive”?
Any drives logged with the same start and end point, regardless of the route taken, will be available to mark as a Frequent Drive.
How can I add notes or other details to a Frequent Drive?
Notes and other drive details can be added to a Frequent Drive from the web dashboard. Simply click on the drive to edit any of the information and press “Save” once finished.
How can I reclassify a drive that was accidentally marked as a Frequent Drive?
To change the classification of a drive, login to the web dashboard and select a new classification from the “Purpose” column. Note: This is on an individual basis and does not edit future auto-classification of that drive.
Where can I go to review my Frequent Drives?
The web dashboard has a complete history of all your drives, including those auto-classified using the Frequent Drives feature. To sort just by Frequent Drives, use the “Auto-classified” filter above the drive list to edit drives one by one or as a group. Auto-classified drives will also be designated with the symbol.
How do I manually set up auto-classification rules?
At this time, the Frequent Drive feature is completely automatic and will appear after a similar drive has been classified the same way 3 times.
What if I take the same trip but for different purposes?
The Frequent Drive feature works best for drives that are taken each time for the same purpose. We recommend classifying as you regularly would for instances where you may be driving to the same location but for different purposes. However, in the event that an auto-classified drive needs to have a one-time purpose change, you can edit the drive on the web dashboard as mentioned above.
