If you're a MileIQ for Teams admin or driver, you may be wondering whether toll and parking fees count toward reimbursement in team reports. They do: tolls and parking recorded on a business drive are added to the reimbursement on top of the mileage value.
This article explains how the total is calculated. To learn how to add parking and toll amounts to a drive, see How to Edit Classified Drives & Add Notes.
How the reimbursement total is calculated
In MileIQ for Teams reports, the Total Reimbursement is calculated as:
Total Reimbursement = (Business miles × Mileage rate) + Parking and tolls
- Mileage value: business miles multiplied by your team's mileage rate (the standard government rate, or a custom rate if your admin has set one).
- Parking and tolls: the fee amounts entered on each drive, added as they are. They are not multiplied by the mileage rate.
💡 Example: A driver logs 100 business miles at a rate of $0.70 per mile, and pays $12 in tolls and $8 in parking. The total reimbursement is (100 × $0.70) + $12 + $8 = $90.
Where tolls and parking appear in the report
- The report Summary includes a dedicated Parking And Toll column, so fees are shown separately from mileage.
- At the drive level, each drive's value includes its own parking and toll amounts.
Fees only count if they're entered on the drive before it's submitted
MileIQ detects mileage automatically, but it does not detect tolls or parking. These amounts are only included if they are entered on the drive. If no amount is entered, nothing is added to the reimbursement.
Parking and toll amounts can be added from the MileIQ mobile app or the web dashboard, before or after classifying a drive. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Edit Classified Drives & Add Notes.
⚠️ Important: Drives that have already been submitted in a report can't be edited. Make sure parking and toll amounts are added to your drives before submitting your report.
