Help: My app won't open!

Don't worry! If the app closes every time you try to open it, this is typically either an issue with memory or with your device's OS version, as we don't often hear of crashes with MileIQ.

iOS

First, you'll need to verify that your device is on iOS 13 or above, as we no longer support iOS 12 or older. You can update the OS by opening the app Settings on your device, then navigate to General > Software Update > Download and Install.

Alternatively, unexpected app closures can be caused by memory issues on the device. Please try closing out any unneeded apps that might be currently running in the background by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to access the App Carousel. You can then swipe any unused applications up and off the screen (except MileIQ, of course!). This technique often frees up memory on your device and is recommended from time to time, especially on older devices.

See this support article from Apple for more information about force-quitting applications on iOS.

Additionally, the device may be low on storage capacity. Applications need some available storage space in order to open and freeing up some storage may help. To do this, you may need to try deleting some unused items from the device, such as older apps, pictures or music.

Android

First, you'll want to ensure that the version of Android on your device is 5.0 or greater, as we no longer support Android 4.4 or lower. Depending on your device and the version of Android, you may find the device settings in a different menu on your phone.

The easiest way to do this is to open 'Settings' on your device, then find the 'About Device' or 'About Phone' option in the list and tap on 'Software update' to see if a new version of your OS is available. Since Android can look different, depending on your manufacturer, you may need to review the specific support documentation below for your device.

Staying on the most current version of the Android OS will ensure that MileIQ runs optimally.

Additionally, you may need to free up active memory on your phone by closing unused apps from the app switcher. Accessing the app switcher varies by device, but swiping closed apps you're not using may correct your issue.
