What is Motion Data?
You can enable MileIQ to use motion data from your iOS device to more accurately determine when you are traveling in a vehicle. MileIQ uses this data in our drive detection process to minimize occurrences of a long drive being split into smaller drives. When Motion Data is enabled, MileIQ has access to your motion and fitness data. You can turn off Motion Data at any time.
If Motion Data is disabled, automatic drive detection still occurs within the MileIQ app. MileIQ will not use your motion data in determining your drives.
If you need to, you can pause automatic drive detection.
Managing Motion Data
You can turn on or off this feature in the MileIQ app settings. It is not adjustable from the web dashboard. To turn on or off usage of motion data in the MileIQ app, go to Menu > Drive Detection > Motion Data.
From there you’ll notice a toggle switch to control the motion data. If the switch background is green, motion data usage is turned “On” and you'll be prompted to grant permission for MileIQ to access your motion and fitness activity. If the switch background is gray, motion data usage is turned “Off”.
You must click OK to grant permission for MileIQ to use this data. MileIQ will only prompt you the first time you toggle the switch to "On".
If you choose Don't Allow, you can grant permission later from within the iOS Settings > MileIQ > Motion & Fitness to toggle the switch to "On".
Additional Information
- To use motion data in MileIQ's drive detection process, the Motion Data switch must be toggled to "On" in MileIQ's setting and the Motion & Fitness switch must be toggled to "on" in the iOS Settings > MileIQ (permission granted).
