Removing the Location Bar on iOS 11 Beta

Location_Bar_top.jpg

Notice: Apple has removed this unwanted feature for iOS 11 Beta in its 4th version. If you're using iOS 11 Beta, please update your device now to remove the constant blue location bar for MileIQ.

Open your iPhone's Settings, then go to General > Software Update > Install Now

The recently released iOS 11 Public Beta 1, 2, and 3 for iPhones and iPads currently imposes a constantly displaying location bar at the top of the screen whenever MileIQ is in any form of transit - whether you're actively driving, walking around the block, riding a bike, or have recently (Up to 10-15 minutes) arrived at a destination.

Since Location Services are required to be Always on for MileIQ for drive detection to function properly and consistently capture your drives, this imposed blue location bar is distracting and unneeded for MileIQ. You may be tempted to change your Location Services to "While using the App" but that will prevent drive detection from functioning at all in the background causing you to miss drives.

While we're in communication with Apple to remove this for MileIQ, we need your help in delivering this feedback to Apple too.

Here's what you can do to help:

First, open the Feedback app on your device that is automatically installed when you updated to iOS 11 Beta.

Or you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Feedback app on your device
  2. Tap New Feedback
  3. In the top Basic Information section, please submit the following:
    • Please provide a descriptive title for your feedback:
      • Please remove the constant location bar for MileIQ
    • Which area are you seeing an issue with?
      • Home Screen
    • What type of feedback are you reporting?
      • Incorrect/Unexpected Behavior
  4. In the Description section, please submit the following:
    • The constant blue location bar for MileIQ displays whenever there's any location change. It isn't needed and is very distracting. Please remove it as MileIQ needs to always be on to function properly.
  5. Once you've entered the feedback, tap Submit in the top right corner and then tap Submit again if it's your first submitted feedback.

Submitting this feedback will improve the chances of Apple removing this imposed incorrect/unexpected behavior with MileIQ.
